Catch Up Time Again

A friend recently pointed out to me what I already knew… I am terribly behind on my blog. It has been in the back of my mind and on the bottom of my to-do list for quite a few weeks, so here is a quick re-cap of how the past few weeks have gone here in Ecuador.

We just finished our THIRD week of homeschooling. It is very motivating for the girls to get their school work done knowing they’ll get to go to Casa de Fe when they’re done. JC has started 10th grade and will be taking a daily Spanish class at Nate Saint Memorial School. AJ is continuing in 2nd/3rd grade progress. AC is progressing through K/1st grade work.

And AG does as much as she wants of colors, numbers, shapes, coloring, drawing, etc and constantly reminds us that SHE is the baby! *sigh* We’ve created a monster!

At Casa de Fe, construction continues at a good, steady rate. The school is almost finished and is scheduled to be opened for the first day of classes on Sept. 3rd.

I have spent the last two weeks trying to get everyone fitted for their school uniforms, and our ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers have arrived. Everything is falling into place.

Two little guys were “reclaimed” by their birth mother, and we received a newborn (Jose Luis) at just 3 days old. He was born the 8th child of a very poor family. It is likely, in situations like this, that the family will reclaim him when he is older.

I promise to write up some more detailed posts next week.
