While blog-surfing this morning, I stumbled across Melinda’s blog, Traveling the Road Home. Melinda is doing something remarkable; something that I would have never thought to do. She has begun a weekly focus on her blog called “Changing One Heart for Many“. The idea is quite simple. She is asking that we, her readers, take the time each week to pray for President Obama’s heart to be changed toward the issue of abortion. Please take the time to click over to her blog to see what she’s all about…
And I thought, How awesome?! I had been wanting to share MY favorite psalm for a while now. I just hadn’t gotten around to doing it. I think maybe God wanted me to wait until today… While I LOVE the entire 139th psalm, I decided to post the portion that I feel speaks so clearly to the issue of abortion and the question, “When does life begin?”
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to [b] me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.
I know I don’t normally blog about such “heavy” topics, but this is an issue that I am passionate about. I have friends and extended family members that have experienced abortion first-hand, and I have seen the effects abortion has had on them. I have heard the horror stories of the physical damage done, and I have heard their heart-breaking stories of hearing babies crying in their dreams/nightmares. The saddest thing of all is that I have heard the unforgiveness in their voices. I have seen how they shun God’s forgiveness and salvation through Christ because they can’t forgive themselves; and therefore, they can’t believe that God can forgive them. The ripple effects of abortion are tremedous, and we MUST do our part to STOP it now!
Please join us in praying for President Obama and ALL of our government leaders. Pray that their eyes will be opened to the truth that ALL life is worth protecting…
Amen… Great post!
