AINSLEIGH’S PSALM

Psalm 23
1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

This is Ainsleigh’s psalm. Many of you know we like to choose names for our children that have some signifigance or meaning, and if it can be a family name then even better. Well, I have long since liked the name Ainsleigh (notice the “different” spelling b/c my middle name is Leigh, making it a family name), but wasn’t sure about using it. Adding the ‘leigh’ spelling made it a family name, but the meaning? Well, the word means “only field” or “my own field” or “meadow”.

Notice verse 2. Does anyone else see the signifigance here? It may seem a stretch, but the Lord has been whispering to me over the past several days the 23rd Psalm, even on the way to the hospital. And the 2nd verse is the one that ‘clicked’ to me. Pasture=meadow or field. God cares about Ainsleigh and God cares about me. And I think He has let me know that He approves of her name! 🙂
