Made to Crave

This time last year, I was eight months post-partum and attempting to lose the weight ONCE & FOR ALL! January 2010, I did Jillian Michaels’ 30-Day Shred and lost ELEVEN POUNDS! In February, I lost nine more for a total of 20 pounds lost in two months! Not bad…but I had been on bedrest for 3 months with that last pregnancy and I had a difficult recovery, so I had ALOT more weight to lose and alot more muscle to rebuild. In March, I did the “Shred” again, but I got lax & only lost two pounds. 🙁 So I did what I have always done… I GAVE UP!

I just decided, “Okay, I’ll just always be fat.” “Hubby’s not complaining, so what do I care.” “This isn’t so bad…At least I can zip my pants standing up.”
Tuesday night began the first meeting of a small group Bible study with some of my friends. I’ve been hearing alot on KLove and elsewhere about the new book, Made to Crave by Lysa TerKuerst of Proverbs 31 Ministries. I don’t remember how I found it out, but there is a free kindle download of a devotional that supplements this study. Well, FREE is my favorite price so I downloaded it to my phone.
After reading the first couple days’ devotionals, I was inspired. I sent a text message to several friends & made a random facebook status inviting anyone interested to join me in this study. The response was immediate, with messages saying “me!” “me!” “count me in!” WOW! Really?

So it was great spending time with other women & finding out so many of us share the same struggles. I hate that we have the struggles, but I am so glad I am NOT alone! This week, we’re focusing on the word “empowered” and attempting to let go of the idea that we are “deprived” when we make healthy choices.

If you would like more information about this study, head over to the Made to Crave website.
