The only way to reach a goal is to keep it in plain sight, right? So at the beginning of each new month, I am reviewing the goals I set at the beginning of the year.
Goal #1–Debt-Free in 2010… Guess what????? WE DID IT!!!! We are completely debt-free, except for the house & it will be paid off in December!! WOOHOO! Feels good! Now to work on building our emergency fund up some. (And the reality check is that we still have 4 kids to feed & educate, so we are still broke, LOL!)
Goal #2–Get thin in 2010… I am making progress here. I have lost a total of 21 pounds with about 20 more to go.
Goal #3–Read a Proverb a day with the children… This has been hit or miss, most days being a miss, but we are still trying.
Goal #4–Regular dates with hubby… NOPE! Life seems to be getting in the way here, and it doesn’t help that babysitting costs money. I don’t mind paying, but it doesn’t leave much to actually be able to go out & do anything. About once a week, we try to watch a movie together after the kids are in bed, but I usually fall asleep, LOL!
Goal #5–Keep lesson plans at least a day ahead–Baaahaaahaaahaaaa! We’re not exactly flying by the seat of our pants, but most days are “just doing the next thing.”
Goal #6–Read the Bible in 90 days–The 90 days are up, and I’m not finished but I am making progress. I should be done by the end of the month. I am somewhere in the book of Ezekiel.
Goal #7–Read-Alouds in the evenings with the children–We finally cut the satellite, and I am thrilled at the improvement in the attitudes of my children. Read-alouds have become the evening standard again with weekend family movie nights.
So all in all, I think I’m doing well with my goals for 2010. The biggest thing for me has been learning PERSEVERENCE–not giving up! That doesn’t come naturally or easily for me, but I am glad to finally be learning it.
So how about you? Did you set goals or make resolutions for 2010? If so, how are you doing? If not, why not start now?
You are really making some awesome, positive changes!!! Good for you!
I know you have got to be thrilled!
Stopped by from UBP10. I'm so impressed that you're debt free! With so many children! (well, I have three, so it's not THAT many, but you know what I mean). Also impressed that you cut off the satellite. I'm not sure I'm that brave, but I'm glad it's working so well.
