An Afternoon at Rio Pastaza

Living near the equator, most poeple think that Ecuador is a tropical paradise. In some ways it is. Fruits and vegetables grow year round  and the climate tends to be moderate. But, it also tends to rain EVERY SINGLE DAY.

A couple of weeks ago, something strange happened. It didn’t rain for a full 24 hours. And then it didn’t rain for another 24 hours. And another and another and another. This did create a bit of a problem with our water supply (more about that in another post), but it also created a great opportunity for our family.

We were able to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends at a nearby “beach”, a.k.a. a sandy space on the Pastaza River.

And the sky was this beautiful canvas painted by God Himself.
